Harrods reopens round-the-clock FBO services at Luton
It has been a tricky time for Harrods at Luton over the summer, as the team are used to handling traffic round-the-clock and rarely have to say no. Takeoff and landing during the night is now permitted again.

Harrods Aviation is offering its FBO services 24/7 at London Luton airport once more, following a temporary ban on night movements during the summer period.

“It has been a strange summer for us,” comments ops director Kerry Besgrove. “We train our staff to offer service excellence based on a very strong can-do attitude. We have never been in the business of saying no, so to have to operate for a number of months under the restrictions we have faced has been challenging.

“Many of our customers want the ability to work into the evening or to be in the city in the early morning. The ability to utilise night-time operations is vital to support the global customer community. It is a relief to be back in the driving seat, offering unsurpassed service every hour of the day and night.”

The night-time ban affected both FBOs at the busy Luton airport. Traffic wishing to arrive between the hours of 2200 and 0559 GMT was required to travel outside the greater London area, often resulting in long car journeys into central London.

Harrods sales and marketing director Will Holroyd states: "We would like to thank Air Elite FBO, XLR Jet Centre in Birmingham, for supporting us operationally during this period. It has been reassuring knowing that we could entrust the service of our customers who wished to land or depart during the night to an FBO that shares our philosophy.

“Primarily though, we would like to thank our customers who have worked with us, often changing schedules and itineraries to comply with the temporary ban. Their understanding and empathy with the closure has been very much appreciated.”
