Lagos, Nigeria-based FBO EAN Aviation has become the first West African IS-BAH Stage 1 registered company, and only the second organisation to earn the status in all of Africa. The company's quality and safety manager Labaeka Ibrahim attended the fundamentals of IS-BAH and auditing workshops in Dubai, UAE. A series of eight organisational manuals were subsequently developed.

“We now have an international certification to validate our level of safety compliance with international standards and an ingrained safety culture,” says CEO and founder Segun Demuren. “IS-BAH gives confidence to our international customers and other stakeholders, that our fixed based operations and ground handling are world class.

“Despite the lengthy preparation that spanned nearly three years, our investment has paid off.”

EAN intends to commence preparation for the IS-BAH Stage 2 certification in the third quarter of 2017. Commercial director Adetutu Akinyemi believes that the first audit sets a precedent for the rest of west Africa to follow. “The entire process of obtaining the certification has brought about a tremendous improvement in the safety culture at EAN. Several clients and operators have expressed improved trust and service confidence in our company following the IS-BAH award.”
