JoinJet juggles medevac and Hawker music tours
JoinJet, a subsidiary of Scandinavian scheduled operator Sun-Air, has been balancing its business interests in medevac, charter and maintenance.

JoinJet, a subsidiary of Scandinavian scheduled operator Sun-Air, has been balancing its business interests in medevac, charter and maintenance. Charter flights and air ambulance ops are flown using a fleet of eight aircraft, while MRO Sun-Air Technic is enjoying sustained activity.

“Our two ambulance Hawker 800XPs are the busiest charter aircraft in the fleet,” says sales manager Torben Junget. “We also fly for a lot of musicians in Europe. Many artists are chartering private jets on tour and it is a busy time right now because we are peaking for festivals; the winter time is quieter.

“Musicians do not really have special requirements. They just require the charter experience: hassle-free access to airports, nice catering, availability of wi-fi on board and so on. What applies to a corporate businessperson applies equally to a musician. We have some Dornier 328JETs in 14-seat configuration for this purpose, and we also use the Hawker 800 and the carbon fibre Hawker 4000.”

Sun-Air Technic performs a lot of third-party maintenance and recently completed a second refurbishment for a Nigerian customer who flies all the way to Denmark to have the work carried out. “We maintain our own aircraft and third-party aircraft according to our capability list,” adds Junget. “Originally these workshops only maintained our aircraft, but in November 2014 the MRO ScanTech was acquired by Sun-Air. ScanTech was based solely at Sindal and joined Sun-Air’s main facility at Billund, along with Aarhus and Thisted bases.”

A new administration facility for the operator will be up and running in Billund from the beginning of August.
