German air ambulance specialist FAI rent-a-jet AG has recorded a record operational income for 2015 at €80m, up on the 2014 figure of €73.5m. The growth has been predominantly driven by a 37 per cent increase in activity from the air ambulance division, which generated revenues of €41.7m. Last year the operator's medevac fleet performed 747 missions in 125 countries, a distance equivalent to circling the globe 100 times.

The company's special mission services, operating on behalf of NGOs in crisis areas around the world, generated revenues which were up nearly a quarter on the previous year. In total the FAI fleet flew more than 13,000 hours.

This year the management team anticipates an income of €90m by year end, with the ambulance division expected to generate €50m. Special mission services are slated to account for €25m with the remainder coming from charter, management, MRO and FBO services.

“We are looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary at the end of 2016 and completion of our new hangar, which will increase our footprint to more than 9,000 sqm in addition to 4,500 sqm of offices and component shops,” says chairman Siegfried Axtmann.
