Atlas Air Service of Bremen, Germany, has added a CJ4 to its managed fleet. It now operates five Citation aircraft for private owners, having previously operated an aircraft for JetCologne while it acquired its AOC. Says sales director Hans Doll: “We have had an AOC for 15 years but up to now we have kept it below the horizon. We do not intend to compete with other CitationJet operators in Germany. So basically we are a management organisation with an AOC.

“The CJ4 has a corporate owner who operates the aircraft for their travel requirements. It is not on the open charter market. Other aircraft owners and operators do not have their own organisation to operate such an aircraft, so they come to us and use our complete service, from booking hotels and arranging the pilots to organising the limousines; it is like a charter operation, but it is just for the corporate needs of the owner.

“The CJ4 is a very interesting aircraft here in Europe. It has, within the CitationJet series, the longest range, as you can operate it to 2,000 nm without problems. It is very fast and has short take off and landing distances. It is both effective and efficient.”

Atlas does have two aircraft available for charter out of Bremen, and is a Cessna authorised sales represen-tative for Citations in Germany.

“We do have capacity to take on more aircraft, but it has to fit in with our portfolio,” continues Doll. “We are open for everybody who likes to operate, especially in the northern part of Germany. At the moment those we manage for are in the vicinity of Bremen.”
