Air Charter Safety Foundation welcomes Richard Meikle to board of governors

The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Meikle to its board of directors, further strengthening the foundation's commitment to advancing the highest levels of safety in the air charter and aviation industry.

Richard brings an impressive background in aviation safety and leadership to ACSF. Currently leading the safety programme at FlightSafety International, Meikle has been instrumental in implementing innovative partnerships and safety measures, including a collaboration with GE Digital to utilise C-FOQA data for crafting safety-focused training scenarios. His expertise spans across vital areas including aviation safety, operations management, legal frameworks, public policy, advocacy and strategic planning.

Under his guidance, FlightSafety International's courseware team has significantly enhanced safety content inclusion, ensuring that pilots and crew members receive comprehensive and current safety training. Richard's visionary approach to aviation safety has been pivotal in his achievements, particularly in his efforts to address inconsistencies in de-icing and ground handling procedures across the industry.

“Richard's extensive experience and dedication to enhancing aviation safety align perfectly with the ACSF's mission. His innovative thinking and leadership skills are invaluable assets to our board,” said Bryan Burns, president and CEO of the Air Charter Safety Foundation. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and look forward to his contributions in advancing our safety initiatives.”

Acknowledging the challenges and risks associated with ground services such as de-icing, Richard plans to advocate for a pilot-centric audit programme. This innovative approach, utilising a simple, straightforward application, will aim to provide near real-time reviews of service providers' safety and operational standards, thereby fostering a safer aviation environment.

Richard's commitment to safety and excellence in the aviation sector has been recognised by peers and industry leaders alike. His addition to the ACSF board of governors is expected to bring new perspectives and drive significant advancements in aviation safety standards and practices.

The ACSF is committed to promoting the highest levels of safety in personal, charter and business aviation. The foundation is dedicated to enabling the highest levels of safety in all aviation operations through the development of safety programmes, educational materials and industry partnerships.
