PWI-amended STC to cover King Air 250 series LED upgrade coming soon

PWI is offering a LED King Air 250 upgrade as an option for specialised LED upgrades for the King Air 250's cold cathode window lighting systems. PWI expects to receive FAA approval for the amended STC soon. Until then, the lighting upgrade may be purchased uncertified under the field approval system.

The LED King Air 250 Upgrade utilises the PWI LED lighting system to upgrade the stock cold cathode fluorescent lighting that runs above the window units. The upgraded 250 is designed to include B200T, B200C, B200GT, and B200CGT King Airs. This system maintains the positive characteristics of fluorescents, while bringing in all the benefits of LEDs, such as long life, energy efficiency and weight savings. It has the added bonus of being much quieter than cold cathode fluorescents, completely eliminating the buzzing that typically accompanies them.

All of PWI's LED products boast up to 100k hours of life to give customers more fly time between maintenance needs and are designed to make installation easier. The 250 upgrade utilises the existing aircraft wiring harness and dim/on/off switches to make the enhancement from the previous lighting system effortless.

"This new addition allows us to expand our product line and fill a previously unavailable opening in the market. With it, our lights can now serve more customers." says Robi Lorik, president of PWI.

This product is expected to be fully STC- and PMA-certified, allowing customers to install it directly in their plane after purchase. Until then, customers may purchase the product uncertified.
