Press Release
Issued by NBAA.
April 7, 2015
In its first public appearance in China, since entering in service in last October, Embraer Executive Jets' Legacy 500 midsize jet will make its debut at the 2015 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE), from April 14-16.
“Chinese customers are increasingly aware of the benefits executive jets bring as business tools. By 2024, China is expected to represent up to 9% of the world's business jet deliveries, about 13% in value, which is estimated at approximately USD 30 billion,” said Guan Dongyuan, senior vice president of Embraer and president of Embraer China. “While buyers may still prefer larger aircraft, we do see increasing potential for midsize jets like the Legacy 500 as the market matures and aircraft ownership grows.”
Embraer will showcase its new aircraft, the Legacy 500, alongside the ultra-large Lineage 1000E and the large Legacy 650, on static display. Company executives will provide a market outlook with aircraft program updates at its press conference, scheduled for April 13, from 11:00am - 11:45am, in Press Conference Room No. 1.
Since 2004, when its first executive jet was delivered to this region, Embraer has logged 35 firm orders and five options for executive jets, to date, of which 27 jets have been delivered.
Jackie Chan, the world renowned movie star and philanthropist, and also the Embraer Executive Jets brand ambassador, was the first customer of the Legacy 650 in China. To date, his airplane has flown over 930 hours, accomplishing 100% schedule reliability since its delivery in February 2012. In October of 2013, Jackie Chan announced he would be the Chinese launch customer of the Legacy 500, with expected delivery in 2015.
About the Legacy 500
The Legacy 500 has the best-in-class six-foot flat-floor cabin, which is comparable to those of some aircraft in the super midsize category. Eight club seats may be berthed into four beds for complete rest in a cabin altitude of 6,000 feet. The in-flight entertainment system consists of a high definition video system, surround sound, multiple audio and video input options, a cabin management system, and three options for voice communications and connectivity.
The Legacy 500 is the first midsize business jet with digital flight controls, based on Fly-By-Wire technology, featuring side sticks. The state-of-the-art Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite on four 15-inch high resolution LCD displays allows graphical flight planning, and has options like paperless operations capability, auto brakes, and the E2VS (Embraer Enhanced Vision System), which includes a Head Up Display (HUD) with the Enhanced Vision System (EVS).
The Legacy 500 is capable of flying at 45,000 feet and is powered by two Honeywell HTF7500E engines, the greenest in their class. Taking off from airfields as short as 4,084 ft, the Legacy 500 has a range of 3,125 nautical miles (5,788 kilometers) with four passengers, including NBAA IFR fuel reserves, which enables it to fly nonstop from Beijing to New Delhi, São Paulo to Caracas, Los Angeles to Honolulu, Teterboro to London, Moscow to New Delhi, Jakarta to Sydney, and Dubai to Zurich.
About the Legacy 650
The large Legacy 650 comfortably carries up to 14 passengers with privacy in three distinct cabin zones, and premium acoustic comfort. In addition to the best-in-class galley and a fully accessible in-flight baggage compartment that surpasses in size even those of most ultra-long range business jets, the aircraft may be configured with up to two lavatories. The Legacy 650 features internet connectivity and the latest generation in full HD in-flight entertainment, with Honeywell's Ovation Select entertainment and cabin management system.
The Legacy 650 features advanced navigation capabilities and the Honeywell Primus Elite™ avionics suite. The Legacy 650 has a range of 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 kilometers) with four passengers, with NBAA IFR fuel reserves, which means that the aircraft can fly nonstop from Beijing to Dubai and Hong Kong to Adelaide (Australia).
About the Lineage 1000E
The ultra-large Lineage 1000E is Embraer's largest executive jet and can carry up to 19 passengers in five cabin zones. The aircraft features the fully digital, high definition, Honeywell Ovation Select entertainment and cabin management system, controlled with an iPad. A fully integrated Media Center conveniently concentrates multiple media devices and video inputs, including game consoles, and delivers high definition video and audio on a 5.1 surround sound system.
Its range of 4,600 nautical miles (8,519 kilometers) with eight passengers, including NBAA IFR fuel reserves, means that the jet is able to fly nonstop from Beijing to Darwin (Australia), or Shanghai to Anchorage (USA).
The Lineage 1000E is equipped with the latest electronic fly-by-wire flight control system, and offers the optional Autoland, which conducts approach, touch down, and a five-second rollout, when the autopilot is engaged. Proven over five years of operation in the Embraer E190 commercial jet fleet, Autoland offers mitigation of non-stabilized approaches, and response to gusts in turbulent conditions, minimizing the occurrence of hard landings, and ultimately, reducing pilot workload. The Lineage 1000E is available with the optional Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS), which bundles Head Up Displays (HUD) and an Enhanced Vision System (EVS).
