Helios thanks 'model' passengers

Two helicopter fans, Thomas Zischinsky and Hannes Kainz built a model inspired by the Helios MD500D which has carried out exacting tasks including fitting an electronic device to the top of a 200 metre antennae. "They are model making fans who have also flown with us," says Walter Enthammer, owner manager.

On the charter side Helios uses its helicopter for business flights, for example a trip from Salzburg to Munich takes 35 minutes and from Salzburg to Venice one hour 20 minutes. But that is only a small part of their function. They are used for mounting transmitters and heat exchangers, setting up and dismantling masts, supplying mountain cabins and people in remote locations, delivering sand and concrete, reforestation, erecting avalanche barriers and fences, feeding and rescuing of game. "Our helicopter can transport up to 500 kilos depending on altitude and temperature. We can lift and transport in situations where conventional ground methods just aren't possible or economical," says Enthammer.

He adds: "Together with local photographers and printers we can produce 360 degree panorama photos, medium format (6x6cm) as slide, negative or direct on CD as well as infrared. For professional camera and film crews we can provide film and personnel relay services." More activities vary from checking high voltage lines and undertaking forest and timber surveys, to inspection and survey of lowland (wetland) areas, biotopes and wildlife habitats.
