Severn snaps up high definition business
Severn Aviation is dedicating a Twin Squirrel to high definition aerial filming. The U.K. charter operator is also expanding key staff and is in discussions aimed at adding aircraft to its Gloucestershire-based fleet.

Severn Aviation is dedicating a Twin Squirrel to high definition aerial filming. The U.K. charter operator is also expanding key staff and is in discussions aimed at adding aircraft to its Gloucestershire-based fleet.

Newly-appointed operations director Annette Carey confirms: "There are discussions with a view to bringing aircraft in and we are hopeful that they will lead to an expanded fleet."

Chief pilot Capt. David Arkell says that Severn Aviation is experiencing heavy demand for the high definition Cineflex filming system. "The system only became operational in July but we already plan to largely dedicate the Twin Squirrel to its operation. Demand indicates that it will provide a strong business growth area."

Severn Aviation's fleet includes helicopters suitable for instrument only flying and the company has attracted the business of high profile individuals including Grand Prix champion Kimi Raikkonen and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton.

Carey, who has worked in aviation for more than 30 years, postponed plans to settle in the Caribbean to join Severn Aviation. "After selling my shareholding in a business in Oxford, I was seriously considering a full-time move to Antigua, where I already

have a second home." But Severn Aviation's chairman Peter Saunders persuaded her otherwise. "He has an exciting vision for the company's future," Carey says.
