Maxjet Airways, the low fare all-business class trans-Atlantic airline, is refining and expanding its luxury charter service. A Boeing 767-200, based in the U.S., is being refittedand dedicated to trans-Atlantic charter service.
Paul Hedger, sales manager U.K., says: "We are going to have a dedicated charter aircraft. It will be exactly the same conversion as for scheduled aircraft."
Maxjet luxury charters have included flying clients from New York to Ireland for the Ryder Cup golf
and London's Chelsea football club to Los Angeles.
"There seems to be a good charter demand that a 100-seater aircraft is well-suited to," says Hedger. The demand is long haul for flights from Europe to destinations including the U.S. west coast and the Maldives.
Hedger says: "Our luxury charter business has grown significantly. It transports groups to various destinations throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the U.S. Recent charters include Stockholm to Las Vegas, and England to Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. The company has a strong customer base that includes corporations, government entities and professional sports teams."
The dedicated charter Boeing is being refitted in the U.S. for October launch. Maxjet is arranging back-ups for when the aircraft is unavailable through maintenance or bookings.
Maxjet has reached an agreement in principle for two more aircraft to be delivered in early 2007, expanding its fleet to five 767s. It is negotiating for additional aircraft to be brought into operation in 2007.
Maxjet says the new aircraft will be used as support on the New York and Washington scheduled routes as well as focusing on the growing charter business.
