Greer Aviation is expanding its facilities at Edinburgh Airport with the opening of an executive lounge for passengers and pilots.

The expansion will add 2,350 square feet of space, trebling the size of the existing facility.

"We're doing to our facilities what so many companies are doing to their fleets - expanding. It's an exciting time to be in an exciting industry," commented Bert Greer, managing director of Greer Aviation.

According to the company, the development follows a strong year in 2005, having handled a variety of aircraft associated with the Open Championship golf at St Andrews and the G8 Summit at Gleneagles.

The extension will feature a meeting room, lounge, rest area, high-speed internet access, flat screen television/DVD player and flight planning facilities.

The company's in-house security screening machines will be relocated to one of the new airside rooms. "Our aim has always been to provide the best handling experience available here at Edinburgh.

"The expansion is the biggest step yet towards reaching that goal, which we are well on course to doing," said Greer.

The company recently launched Greer Aviation Air Charter, a development which comes as a direct response to burgeoning demand for air charter, especially in Scotland.
