Test envelope expands for Javelin prototype
Aviation Technology Group has completed the Javelin's first gear-up flight out of Centennial Airport in Denver, USA. ATG conducted the early morning flight with a chase aircraft in formation. The prototype's landing gear was cycled as the aircraft manoeuvred between 135 and 180 knots. With flaps at 10 degrees, the test pilot performed 30-degree bank turns while continuing to assess handling qualities, from stability roll and performance to trim effectiveness.

The Javelin has already undergone a series of modifications to support future flight tests. The landing gear was upgraded to incorporate an emergency landing gear extension and a new canopy with upgraded contour was also installed.

George Bye, chairman of ATG, said: "This has been a great start to the year. Flight test results continue to meet or exceed our expectations." Initial customer deliveries of the Javelin are scheduled for 2008.
