At the NBAA exhibition in November, Embraer announced the names for its new very light and light jets: The Phenom 100 and the Phenom 300. The jets were launched in May to help advance the company's position in the industry.
"When selecting a name for Embraer's new executive jet family, we found the Phenom name
came out very strongly, and better translated its characteristics," said Embraer president and ceo Mauricio Botelho.
The four-passenger Phenom 100 very light jet (pronounced fee-nom) will range 1,160nm with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.70, whilst the six-passenger Phenom 300 light jet will range 1,800nm with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.78. Both are designed for short speed takeoff.
The Phenom 100 will enter service in mid-2008, priced at US$2.75 million, and the Phenom 300 is expected to arrive a year later at $6.65 million.
The company also reports that its Legacy aircraft is now to be called the Legacy 600, a move aimed at bringing the aircraft in line with Embraer's new business jet naming strategy.
Embraer has delivered 60 Legacy 600s to customers in 15 countries. Future upgrades to the aircraft include the addition of EVS, delivery of the first units with LED lighting, cabin acoustic insulation improvements, electronic flight bag, new radar with extended coverage and a 3D information and entertainment system.
