DanCopter, the company borne out of Bel Air by Lastein ApS in Holsted two years ago, has added to its fleet with an AS 365N3 helicopter.
The firm took delivery of the aircraft in June of this year and since then it has been operating in Chile as part of a Eurocopter demonstration.
It is currently being repainted before it begins offshore operations in the North Sea with DanCopter’s other helicopters, two EC 155s.
All three aircraft will be operated for passenger transport to oil rigs in the North Sea, most likely for offshore operations in Denmark or Norway, but the company is awaiting confirmation about where the latest fleet addition will be posted.
DanCopter chose the helicopter for its performance, explained managing director Susanne Lastein. “It is well-equipped for offshore operations and for wind farm contracts,” she stated.
There are very few private wind farm contracts in Denmark at the moment, she claims. As the government pushes for more wind farms to be developed in a bid to encourage alternative sources of energy, she hopes the number of contracts available for tender will increase.
