NetJets Europe has ordered two further G550s, following the company’s success in selling all of the shares in its first G550. Two more aircraft are scheduled for delivery in October 2005 and early 2006 respectively.
NetJets said it hopes to base a fleet of long-range aircraft in Europe to meet the growing demand for long-distance and transatlantic private jet travel.
The new additions bring to 68 the size of NetJets Europe’s fleet. The company started this year with 58 wholly-owned jets, making it one of the continent’s largest aircraft operators. An additional 34 deliveries this year are set to increase the size of the fleet by 55 per cent.
According to the company, the Gulfstream 550 is widely regarded as the best all-round ultra long-
range business jet in the world.
It boasts the longest cabin in its class, accommodating up to 14 passengers, as well as broadband internet connections and advanced computer software, hardware and display technologies.
Its flight range of 7,403 statute miles, or 11,911 kilometres, makes the aircraft capable of ferrying passengers from Rome to Tokyo or Los Angeles to Moscow.
Mark Booth, ceo of NetJets Europe, said: “The speed at which NetJets owners have snapped up shares in the G550 is indicative of the emerging demand among European customers.”
