Geneva-based PrivatAir is due to launch a non-stop business shuttle between Amsterdam Schiphol and Houston George Bush Inter-continental airports, on behalf of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
From October 30, a brand-new 44-seat BBJ will cross the Atlantic six days per week under a wet lease contract which states that, in addition to providing the aircraft, PrivatAir will provide crew, maintenance and insurance services.
KLM will take responsibility for marketing and on-board catering and in-flight entertainment services.
“We are immensely proud to be able to provide our world-leading business jet services to KLM,” commented PrivatAir Group ceo Greg Thomas. “As the only operator of long-haul business class-only services, it was a great compliment to us that we were approached to fly this route on their behalf.
“Instead of offering two wide-cabin aircraft on select days, KLM decided to offer a dedicated daily business class-only service. Our service will be tailored to the demands of business travellers, and therefore offers an attractive alternative, helping KLM to fully meet its customers’ travel needs.”
PrivatAir’s worldwide managed fleet now numbers more than 50 aircraft, ranging from King Airs to a vip B757. In July, the company added a Global Express to its fleet. The aircraft, which seats 12 passengers, is based in Geneva for six months of the year and spends the remainder of its time in the Caribbean.
PrivatAir states that the new service will create 70 jobs at locations in Switzerland, Germany and
the Netherlands.
