A Citation Excel is the latest addition to the fleet of Swiss charter operator Speedwings. The aircraft has not yet been added to its AOC and is currently only used by its owner, according to Speedwings’ deputy ceo Danielle Fumeaux.
The company expects to begin operating the aircraft commercially in September. It will be based in Geneva and is expected to fly within Europe and North Africa. One of its most frequented destinations will
be Moscow.
Speedwings owns only one of its aircraft, a Citation II; it manages the Excel as well as two Citation V Ultras. Fumeaux said the company selected the Excel in response to customer demand for an aircraft with a larger cabin and a longer range than the Citation II.
According to Fumeaux, there is a lot of demand for this aircraft type, both in Switzerland and across Europe. “We are refusing a lot of business at the moment because we are so busy. The more planes you have the busier you become,” she commented.
The Citation Excel is expected to accrue a minimum of 600-700 flight hours per year.
