Sweden-based Arlanda Helicopter has bought two Bell 206LT helicopters and will begin operating charter flights from June 5. The aircraft will be used for personal transportation as a taxi service, says coordinator of flight operations Tomas Wallis.
The company did not consider any other aircraft as the Bell 206LTs ‘serve their purpose perfectly,’ being light twin engine helicopters, Wallis explained. The aircraft were selected because they conform to the JAR Ops regulations, which state that single engine aircraft cannot fly over congested areas.
The Bell 206LTs will be based in Stockholm and are expected to fly between 200 to 300 hours per year. Each helicopter seats five people comfortably, with one person sitting next to the pilot at the front and four in the cabin.
The pilots and crew will be trained at Arlanda’s northern base in Gavle during the first week of June. As well as these latest additions, the company operates three Bell 206 BIII aircraft, three 206LIIIs, a Bell 407 and an Agusta 109MKII.
