Germans target ‘niche’ commuter market
Excellent Air is set to take delivery of a Dornier Do328-100 in a bid to broaden its sphere of operations to target the niche 32-seat comm- uter market. The aircraft, which joins three jet props and six Citations, has been repainted in the company’s livery and refurbished with leather seats and burl wood finishing. In addition to the commuter version, Excellent Air will offer a vip version of the 1999-model aircraft in the summer, configured with 22 club seats.

CEO Rainald Schulte believes that the Do328’s flexibility will enable the company to to reach various market segments in Europe, including group travel, events and road shows, company shuttle and incentive travel.

“The European expansion delivers further opportunities, such as transporting construction and management teams to and from the new EU-member countries,” he said.

“Excellent Air’s core appeal is above all different: Almost all of the Do328s in Germany and the Benelux states are bound in fixed scheduled flights. It is hard to find such an aircraft as a ‘quick change’ business version for charter in this region.”

In 2004, the company became a stock corporation which, according to Schulte, has afforded it greater flexibility and the promise of additional growth. “In the next 12 months we plan to invest a high-tech maintenance company at our home base of Stadtlohn Airfield.”
