BAS Part Sales has acquired the aircraft parts inventory and related assets of the Wentworth parts operation and hired its parts team, which now operates as BAS Minnesota. The transition follows Steve Wentworth’s retirement from the aircraft parts business after more than 40 years.
Wentworth has retained the family name and remains active in aviation, including undertaking independent aircraft recovery work. BAS did not acquire Wentworth Aircraft as an operating company.
Wentworth began planning a gradual wind-down in January 2025. While he could have divided engines, wings, control surfaces and other inventory among separate buyers, he decided that keeping his employees together was a priority. Discussions with BAS provided a way to retire from parts while leaving the inventory with the people who knew it.
During his career in the aircraft parts business, Wentworth purchased more than 7,100 aircraft. Several team members worked alongside him for more than three decades. They now continue at the same Crystal airport facility near Minneapolis, bringing their general aviation knowledge, familiarity with the inventory and established customer relationships to BAS Minnesota.
“The best part of this transition is that Wentworth customers do not lose the people who know them or the inventory they have relied on,” says Clinton McJenkin, director of sales and marketing at BAS Part Sales. “They get the same experienced team, now backed by BAS technology, e-commerce, fulfilment and a much larger support operation.”
BAS is bringing the former Wentworth inventory into its systems, with parts being catalogued and added to its website as the integration moves forward. Each listing will feature published pricing, detailed part information and high-resolution photos of the actual component. For customers familiar with the traditional call-and-quote approach to aircraft parts, this means more inventory available to search, evaluate and purchase online, with the transparency and convenience BAS has built its business around.
Listed items reflect physically available stock, backed by the company’s warehouse and fulfilment operations. BAS’s worldwide shipping infrastructure provides the Minnesota team with support for customers beyond its local market.
The BAS online storefront is available 24 hours a day, supported by an experienced team with extensive knowledge of aircraft, their systems and the parts that keep them flying. From general aviation to business jets, BAS combines modern e-commerce convenience with the technical expertise and personal service aircraft owners, operators and maintenance professionals depend on. Qualifying parts are backed by a 90-day money-back guarantee, subject to individual listing terms.
With the addition of BAS Minnesota, the company gains a stronger physical presence in the upper Midwest. BAS plans to grow the Minnesota team and bring the operation up to the scale and systems of its existing facilities in Greeley, Colorado.
“It is an honour and a privilege to carry Steve’s legacy into the future,” says BAS Part Sales owner Jared Boles. “This parts operation represents his life’s work, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are committed to supporting the people who helped him build it and preserving the customer relationships he spent his career earning.”
