Jet Support Services Inc (JSSI) has formed a fully dedicated engine trading team within JSSI Parts & Engines (JPE), its aftermarket parts and engine business. The team draws on the same relationships and market data that JPE has long used to track demand across more than 300 makes and models of business jet.
JPE acquires engines and APUs on its own account and offers them to the market for sale, lease and exchange, with inventory sourced based on broader industry demand. For an operator or MRO facing an event, if the right engine is not already available on the shelf, the team can go to market and source it on the customer’s behalf. Whole asset sales and acquisition coverage is organised by region, with David Durham covering North America, Manuel Ruanova Latin America and Timothée Marcie EMEAA.
A market strategy and demand planning group, working alongside JSSI’s product line specialists, predicts which assets are scarce and in demand. That analysis draws on data from JSSI’s oversight of maintenance for over 300 different types of business aircraft and more than 10,000 events per year.
Philipe Figueiredo, global vice president, JSSI Parts & Engines, says: “For years our customers called JSSI Parts & Engines the industry’s best kept secret. With a team dedicated to engine trading, we are making it official: if you need an engine or an APU, call JSSI first.”
JPE was launched in 2014 to stock, source and supply parts for aircraft enrolled on JSSI’s Hourly Cost Maintenance (HCM) programmes. When the pandemic disrupted supply chains, that inventory became an industry-wide resource. Roughly half of the parts JPE supplies go to JSSI programme maintenance events and half go to operators, MROs and OEMs that are not enrolled on a JSSI programme.
JSSI has invested more than $1 billion in engines and parts inventory over the past five years. In that time the engine and APU pool has grown from roughly 30 units to over 130. JPE acquires one or two aircraft every month for teardown and holds more than 100,000 lines of parts.
The team follows recent investment in JPE. In August, Jamie Benthusen joined as senior director of operations and is building an operations centre of excellence at JPE’s 90,000sq ft distribution centre in Erlanger, Kentucky, near Cincinnati. JPE has also added Sensos live tracking to its high-value and AOG-critical shipments at no cost to customers, and from Q1 2027 will have parts available in Europe.
