Líder Aviação begins work on G550 Galileo installation
This installation continues Líder's involvement in next-generation connectivity projects. Earlier this year, the company completed its first installation of the Gogo Galileo HDX system in a large-cabin aircraft, a Global 6000.

Lider Aviacao has begun the second installation of the Gogo Galileo HDX connectivity system at its maintenance centre in Sorocaba, in the interior of Brazil's São Paulo.

The installation on the Gulfstream G550 follows certification by the FAA for the G450 and G550 models. The STC was approved in January 2026.

The Gogo Galileo HDX utilises Eutelsat OneWeb's LEO satellite network to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity during flight. This technology enables the use of video conferencing, streaming, live broadcasts, web browsing and enterprise applications, including on long-distance and intercontinental routes.

More than just installing new equipment, the project requires specific integration into the aircraft's configuration. The engineering work includes defining the antenna installation and its structural aspects, power supply, cabling and compatibility with existing onboard systems.

“Each aircraft has its own configuration, especially when it already has other connectivity systems installed. The work involves evaluating how the new solution will be incorporated without interfering with existing equipment, meeting certification requirements and ensuring a safe and functional installation,” says Fábio Del Lama, director of aircraft maintenance at Lider Aviacao.

Another distinguishing feature of the Gogo Galileo HDX is its ability to operate in conjunction with other connectivity solutions. This allows the operator to combine different satellite networks and orbits, increasing the availability and redundancy of the connection during flight.

For passengers and crew, the use of LEO satellites also reduces latency compared to traditional solutions based on geostationary satellites. In practice, this improves the experience in applications that depend on fast network response, such as video calls, remote access to corporate systems and live streaming.

The new installation continues Líder's involvement in next-generation connectivity projects. Earlier this year, the company also completed its first installation of the Gogo Galileo HDX system in a large-cabin aircraft, a Global 6000. The project combined the system with the Plane Simple Ku solution.

“Connectivity has become part of the work infrastructure of many executive aircraft. On long-haul flights, maintaining continuous internet access is no longer just a convenience, but has become an increasingly present operational demand among passengers and operators,” adds Del Lama..

In addition to connectivity projects, Líder's facility in Sorocaba performs a full range of maintenance, engineering, modification and modernisation services for executive aircraft from various manufacturers.

Founded 67 years ago, Lider Aviacao has more than 1,400 employees and a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, operating in five business units: aircraft charter and management, airport services, aircraft sales and acquisitions, maintenance services and helicopter operations for the oil and gas industry. With a presence in 22 operational bases at major Brazilian airports, Líder also offers aviation insurance brokerage services, flight simulator training and helicopter blade repairs.
