Heli Express rolls out TracPlus for 46 aircraft
The deployment brings real-time fleet oversight, automated reporting and safety tools to the US utility helicopter operator.

Helicopter Express has deployed TracPlus across its 46-aircraft fleet following an enterprise partnership with the global provider of mission-critical intelligence for aerial operations. The deployment gives Helicopter Express a single, unified operating picture, which had become critical as the company expanded through acquisitions and growth into new service areas and geographies.

The US utility helicopter operator, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, implemented the system following a successful trial period earlier this year. The rollout spans multiple aircraft types and operating bases, giving Helicopter Express improved real-time visibility across its operations.

Founded in 1995 by Scott Runyan with a single engagement with the United States Forest Service, Helicopter Express has grown into one of the largest utility helicopter operators in the US.

Today, the company operates Sikorsky S-64 Skycranes, Kaman K-Max K-1200s, Bell 412EPXs, Bell 205s, Bell 407s, Airbus AS-350s and other aircraft types, with active annual engagements in Greece, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Chile and Italy.

Helicopter Express delivers a broad range of mission-critical services including heavy lift and crane operations, utility and electrical construction support, aerial firefighting, search and rescue, disaster relief and charter operations. The company says its operating model centres on pairing highly skilled pilots with the highest quality equipment, earning it a reputation for precision, safety and reliability across the public and private sectors.

As the business has grown, managing multiple systems across an expanding fleet has made real-time tracking, operational oversight and reporting increasingly complex. TracPlus was selected to address these challenges, providing a single platform across every aircraft, base and team.

With TracPlus live across the fleet, Helicopter Express says it benefits from real-time visibility across all aircraft, crews and operational activity, alongside advanced aerial analytics designed to support firefighting operations, performance reporting and client transparency. The system also automates operational reporting through validation of flight and billing data, reducing manual processing and improving billing accuracy, while integrated alerts and notifications, including email and SMS alerts, geofencing and Guardian safety features, support operational awareness and crew connectivity. Helicopter Express also highlights cross-department value, with operational insights supporting teams across operations, finance, maintenance and executive leadership.

The company says the platform replaces fragmented workflows with a more streamlined system that supports decision-making and operational efficiency across the organisation.

"We're proud to be part of Helicopter Express' next chapter. A 46-aircraft fleet operating across multiple continents needs operational clarity that scales with it. That's what we're here to provides," says Todd O'Hara, CEO, TracPlus.

"As Helicopter Express has grown, so has the complexity of running our fleet. TracPlus has given us the platform to manage that complexity without adding overhead. We can track every aircraft across every base, automate our reporting and make faster, better-informed decisions, whether we're fighting fires in California or managing lift operations overseas. For a growing company, that kind of operational clarity is invaluable," comments Scotty Runyan, vice president, government services, Helicopter Express Inc.
