The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has entered into a five-year training services contract with SR3 Rescue Concepts, a US provider of specialised rescue, hoist and advanced helicopter training. The contract provides Texas DPS aviation personnel across the state with streamlined, guaranteed access to SR3's comprehensive suite of helicopter rescue training programmes with locked in pricing through 2030.
Texas DPS has access to SR3's entire training curriculum under the contract, giving the department flexibility to tailor each training event to the specific needs of its aircraft operations teams. This training includes initial and advanced helicopter hoist rescue, aerial use-of-force, tactical medical, helicopter underwater escape, NVG and night hoist operations. Advanced curriculum options include open water, swift water, high altitude and mountain rescue scenarios.
“This contract is a testament to the commitment Texas DPS has made to the safety and preparedness of its aviation crews,” says Dave Callen, owner of SR3 Rescue Concepts. “Over the past three years we have trained much of its agency statewide, and this agreement takes that relationship to the next level. Instead of coordinating each class one at a time, Texas DPS now has SR3 at its disposal multiple times a year across every base in the state for the next five years. That kind of continuity and flexibility is what saves lives.”
SR3's relationship with Texas DPS began in 2023 with a single training class. Impressed with the professionalism and quality of the instruction, the department hired SR3 for additional classes across the state that year and has continued to secure the company to train its teams annually ever since.
