Saxon adds AW139 helicopter to managed fleet
Entering service during the operator’s tenth year of rotary operations, the AW139 increases payload and range while expanding cross-border helicopter charter capability.
Based at Elstree and supported by Saxon Air’s rotary infrastructure, the addition strengthens the company’s heavy twin presence.

Saxon Air has introduced a Leonardo Agusta AW139 helicopter to its managed fleet, expanding the UK operator’s rotary capability and operational reach.

Now in its tenth year as a rotary operator, the addition of the 2025-built aircraft represents one of the most significant fleet additions in the company’s history. Operating exclusively for charter through Saxon Air, the helicopter strengthens the operator’s heavy twin capability and expands the scale of missions it can support.

The AW139 provides increased payload capacity, extended endurance and a seven-seat executive configuration. These characteristics allow Saxon Air to support more complex, higher-capacity and longer-range charter missions across the UK and Europe.

The aircraft’s performance enables direct routes to Paris and other European destinations, strengthening the operator’s cross-border charter capability.

Integrating the aircraft onto the company’s Air Operator Certificate followed several months of operational planning, regulatory preparation and infrastructure alignment.

Configured for executive charter yet built on a platform widely used for offshore and commercial missions, the AW139 supports executive transport, time-critical itineraries and multi-sector European schedules.

Miles Riches, head of rotary sales at Saxon Air, says: “The introduction of the Agusta AW139 to our managed fleet marks a defining milestone for Saxon Air. Bringing an aircraft of this size and capability onto our AOC demonstrates both the scale of our ambition and our continued commitment to investing in the very best for our clients.
