Blue Skies teams with Tecnam for training offer
This combined capability strengthens operational resilience, enhances training realism and positions the Blue Skies group as a cornerstone of modern, internationally aligned aviation training and operations in Sri Lanka.
This induction represents a historic first for Sri Lanka, as it is the first time brand-new aircraft have been introduced specifically for the flight training role.

Blue Skies Aviation Solutions has entered into a contract with Tecnam to acquire four brand-new aircraft, comprising one Tecnam P2006T NG twin-engine aircraft and three Tecnam P-Mentor single-engine trainers, marking the first introduction of brand-new, purpose-built aircraft dedicated to flight training in Sri Lanka.. These aircraft will be delivered to Sri Lanka in couple of months.

Under the Blue Skies group structure, the AOC will be held and operated by BSA, while the ATO will be established under a wholly owned sister company, ensuring clear regulatory separation with strong operational and safety alignment.

This induction represents a historic first for Sri Lanka, as it is the first time brand-new aircraft have been introduced specifically for the flight training role, setting a benchmark for training quality, safety and standardisation in the country.

The fleet selection underpins a fully integrated training-to-operations pathway. The Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft will serve as the backbone of ab initio, VFR and IFR training, featuring modern glass-cockpit avionics, FADEC-controlled powerplant and high fuel efficiency tailored for intensive training environments.

The Tecnam P2006T NG, powered by twin Rotax 912 iSc engines and equipped with an advanced avionics suite and autopilot capability, will support multi-engine and advanced instrument training, while also being deployed for CAT-aligned operations under the AOC.

In parallel, Blue Skies Aviation Solutions will be appointed as an authorised Tecnam repair station in Sri Lanka, providing OEM-aligned maintenance and technical support.

This combined capability strengthens operational resilience, enhances training realism and positions the Blue Skies group as a cornerstone of modern, internationally aligned aviation training and operations in Sri Lanka.

Walter Da Costa, Tecnam chief sales officer, warmly welcomes the new partnership: “We are honoured to be the aircraft of choice for Blue Skies Aviation Solutions as it brings this visionary new academy to Sri Lanka. Starting a new ATO requires a flawless foundation, and the combination of the P-Mentor and the P2006T NG is exactly that. It is the most modern, efficient and profitable training fleet available on the market today. We are excited to support Blue Skies Aviation in its mission to elevate professional pilot training in the South Asian region and look forward to seeing its cadets take to the skies in our aircraft.”
