Guymon and ODAA advance hangar build to expand airport operations
The $2.3 million facility is being built under the Airport Construction Program to support business traffic and local economic development.
Work begins on Guymon’s 120-by-100-foot hangar, part of a statewide push to expand aircraft storage and boost Oklahoma’s economic growth.

The Guymon Municipal Airport and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) held a groundbreaking ceremony on 17 November 2025 to start construction on a new 120-foot by 100-foot hangar. The project is part of ODAA’s statewide hangar programme, which aims to address a lack of hangar space, increase airport income and encourage aviation-related growth.

The hangar, projected to cost $2.3 million, is being funded through a partnership between the FAA, which is contributing around $1.3 million, the ODAA with $920,000 and a local airport sponsorship of $115,000.

“With Guymon's upcoming hangar construction, we're strategically addressing the need to improve access to essential hangar space in Oklahoma's panhandle,” says Grayson Ardies, executive director at ODAA. “By supporting more traffic and encouraging longer stays, we are directly boosting the airport's revenue potential and overall vitality.”

Guymon city manager Micheal W. Shannon adds: “The construction of our new transient hangar marks a major milestone. This facility gives us the ability to safely accommodate jet aircraft, support business travel and attract new economic opportunities to the region.”

The hangar is being delivered through ODAA’s five-year Airport Construction Program.
