Abu Dhabi launches vertiport network
The initiative brings together regulators, airports and urban planners to prepare for electric air travel through SAVI-linked infrastructure.
Officials from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, General Civil Aviation Authority, Integrated Transport Centre, and Abu Dhabi Airports mark the launch of Abu Dhabi's first vertiport network to support advanced air mobility.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in partnership with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) and Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA), has officially launched the emirate’s first vertiport network. The new infrastructure is designed to support the launch of advanced air mobility (AAM) across Abu Dhabi.

This milestone is a key part of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster's strategy to support economic diversification by deploying cutting-edge technologies and sustainable air mobility solutions. The planned vertiport network will allow electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to operate across strategic locations, facilitating seamless low-emission travel and improving connectivity throughout the region.

The network will comprise more than 10 state-of-the-art vertiports fully integrated into Abu Dhabi's wider transport system. Key locations confirmed so far include Zayed International Airport and Al Bateen Executive Airport, with further sites and intercity routes to be announced in subsequent phases. Abu Dhabi Airports has been selected as the anchor investor and the primary delivery partner.

The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) and the GCAA are contributing to the network’s development and operation within a clear regulatory framework, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of safety and integration. The network will connect major urban, business and tourism hubs including Yas Island, Saadiyat, and Abu Dhabi Island.

“This strategic initiative places Abu Dhabi at the forefront of next-generation mobility, exemplifying the power of partnerships between Abu Dhabi Government and the private sector in accelerating future industries,” says Badr Al-Olama, director general of ADIO. "By integrating eVTOL infrastructure into our transport system and anchoring this initiative as part of the SAVI cluster, we are accelerating the deployment of smart and advanced mobility solutions while solidifying the emirate’s position as a leader in future-defining industries.”
