Prototype installations of Australian vertiport developer Skyportz’s modular vertipad landing infrastructure will begin in Shenzhen, China’s low-altitude economic innovation hub, through a new partnership with Haylion Technologies. The collaboration, unveiled at the AAM Asia Symposium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, is the first step towards a broader rollout across China.
Haylion, rooted in the Greater Bay Area and a founding member of the Shenzhen AAM Group, is a systemic solutions provider for the low-altitude economy. Its expertise includes eMaaS, rapid charging, modular vertiport construction and integrated operational systems. The company plays a role in shaping Shenzhen’s infrastructure plan for more than 1,000 vertiports to support urban air mobility.
Skyportz brings to the partnership its globally patented modular vertipad design, which addresses challenges in downwash, fire safety and scalability. The system is lightweight, cost-effective and deployable in diverse urban environments, providing a pathway for the rollout of eVTOL landing infrastructure worldwide.
“Haylion has the local policy leadership, construction capability and ecosystem influence to set the standard for AAM infrastructure in China. By integrating Skyportz’s patented vertipad technology, we can accelerate Shenzhen’s role as a model city for low-altitude transportation,” says Dr Hu Jianping, founder and chairman of Haylion Technologies.
“This collaboration is the first of further announcements to come as Skyportz partners in emerging AAM regions to solve the problems around urban vertiports. Haylion’s position as a government-connected standard-setter in China, together with Skyportz’s unique intellectual property, creates a powerful platform to develop scalable vertipad solutions. Starting with prototypes in Shenzhen, we aim to provide the blueprint for urban vertipad deployment across China,” adds Clem Newton-Brown OAM, founder and CEO of Skyportz.
The collaboration will combine Haylion’s eMaaS and energy hardware expertise with Skyportz’s vertipad platform, creating infrastructure solutions tailored for dense urban use cases. The phased rollout will begin in Shenzhen, with expansion planned across China and beyond.
