Ambitious Air Mobility Group N.V. (AAMG) and its partners have confirmed their intention to continue the Lilium aircraft programme by acquiring key assets and securing technical expertise.

As a long-standing supporter of the eVTOL platform, the Netherlands-based group had previously ordered 16 Lilium aircraft, demonstrating its confidence in the programme’s technology and vision before the company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. AAMG now plans to invest more than €250 million to revitalise the programme.

“We are convinced that what has been developed here in Bavaria is groundbreaking and both technically and economically feasible. The Lilium platform is the result of years of effort by some of the most talented engineers in the world. We are excited about the opportunity to advance this platform, invest in it and realise its full potential,” says Dr Robert Kamp, CEO and senior partner of AAMG.

The offer includes acquiring Lilium’s intellectual property, assets and test facilities; retaining and rehiring key technical and certification teams; continuing development and certification of the aircraft platform; and activating a European supply chain to support the programme.

The investment approach is fully funded, with an initial €250 million committed and access to a further €500 million to expand operations in Europe and beyond. AAMG also plans to collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including existing suppliers, authorities and government partners, to keep the programme in Europe and align it with German and European aerospace expertise.
