Duncan Aviation has completed a detailed interior refurbishment of a Global Express, centring on sensory design and raw material finishes. The project, carried out in Battle Creek, Michigan, involved close collaboration between the aircraft owner, their external designer and Duncan’s in-house team led by designer Brandie Wolfe.
From stainless-steel countertops in the galley to a subtly iridescent blue carbon fibre lavatory finish, the cabin features distinctive touches. The galley saw the removal of a microwave compartment, making way for a stainless-steel worktop and wall cladding, while new glassware inserts were created for varied stemware.
Texture was prioritised throughout. The cabin retains its Zebrawood cabinetry and showcases seats with aniline leather fronts and suede backs, deliberately unprocessed to highlight their natural origins. The forward divan, finished in iridescent-dyed sheepskin, has drawn particular praise. Matching aniline leather features on the aft divan, with darker aniline leather on the lower sidewalls and Ultrasuede above to balance style and weight.
Real suede upper sidewall panels were fitted in the lavatory thanks to their small footprint, while the custom carpet introduces visual texture using a 3D effect through variable pile heights and dual-colour yarns.
“This project pushed boundaries,” says Wolfe. “The use of raw cowhides in the form of aniline and suede, sheepskin outside of the cockpit and stainless-steel countertops makes for a unique interior that embraces imperfection and prides itself on being different from the norm. The result is an interior that is both luxurious and deeply personal.”
