Centreline has sold Capital Air Ambulance to Gama Aviation UK. The transaction represents a strategic step in line with the group’s focus on growing its core aviation services while divesting non-core business streams.

Capital Air Ambulance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Centreline since 2021, has built a strong reputation as one of the UK’s leading specialist air ambulance providers. With a proven record in rapid-response medical repatriation, the service has consistently delivered high standards of patient care, supported by a skilled and experienced clinical and flight team.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Capital team will transition to Gama Aviation and be integrated into its established medical operations.

Gus Paterson, chief operating officer at Centreline, comments: “We are proud of the Capital Air Ambulance team and their passion, dedication and flexibility throughout the past four and a half years in the group. Capital has built a highly respected capability with deep expertise and experience, and we are confident that this transition marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter that will further strengthen the UK’s critical care air transport network.”

Mark Smith, managing director, special mission at Gama, concludes: “Strategically the acquisition allows us to achieve two complementary activities: one, grow our share of the repatriation market, and two, enhance the productivity of our air ambulance fleet. With this deal, we will achieve both in a shorter timescale and with less execution risk than if we had organically grown our existing share of the repatriation market.”
