Aircare International has launched the Aircare Emergency Diagnostic Platform (AEDP), an advancement in inflight medical support designed specifically for the business aviation sector.
The platform enables flight crews to transmit real-time medical data and encrypted video to Aircare’s board-certified emergency physicians on the ground. Using a tablet-based interface and digital diagnostic equipment, the AEDP enables care teams on the ground to see and hear the patient while monitoring all of the key data used by emergency room clinicians. Integrated with Aircare’s 24/7 emergency telemedicine service, the AEDP system ensures reliable, secure and effective care in emergency situations. Seamless communication allows flight crews to easily relay medical concerns and follow physician-guided protocols, which enhances safety and confidence inflight.
“The AEDP is more than just hardware; it’s a direct line to expert care, delivered through a service platform that’s been trusted by operators worldwide for decades,” says Karl Kamps, VP of operations for Aircare emergency telemedicine and staffing.
Designed specifically for aviation use, the AEDP is lightweight, portable and ruggedised for use in the cabin environment, and is optimised for inflight connectivity and durability. The AEDP kit also features the MedWand multi-sensor device, which is a compact diagnostic tool developed by physicians and engineers to support remote examinations. Additional diagnostic tools in the kit include an infrared thermometer, pulse oximeter, digital stethoscope, high-definition camera, digital blood pressure monitor, glucometer and a two-lead ECG, with a 12-lead upgrade available on request.
The technology is integrated with Aircare’s secure telemedicine platform and paired with a ruggedised Android tablet, telemedicine app and durable hard case, all calibrated for aviation use.
