Jet Logistics and Air EMS worked together to carry out a long-range medical transport from Osan Air Base in South Korea to a medical centre in California. The flight, operated on a Hawker 800XP, covered over 13,000 statute miles and included ten stops, taking just over 31 hours in total.
The mission began at Jet Logistics’ base in Goodyear, Arizona, with outbound stops in Seattle, Cold Bay, Adak Island and New Chitose, before arriving in South Korea to collect the patient. The medical team from Air EMS included a physician, registered nurse and critical care paramedic. The return leg stopped in New Chitose, Cold Bay and Anchorage before delivering the patient bedside in California.
Captain W. Ashley Smith, Jr., president and director of operations for Jet Logistics, who conducted the mission as pilot in command, says: “Our Hawker's range, reliability and comfort allowed us to complete this mission in minimum time with a comfortable working environment for all members of the flight crew and medical team and at a competitive cost.”
