STAT MedEvac signs for trio of H140s
STAT MedEvac is one of the first customers for the new H140 that was unveiled at the Verticon vertical lift industry show in Dallas, Texas. It has ordered two, with an option for a third.
Entry of the H140 into EMS service is planned for 2028.

STAT MedEvac has signed an agreement with Airbus for up to three H140 helicopters for use in the emergency medical services (EMS) sector. The Pennsylvania-based air medical operator has ordered two H140s, with an option for one additional helicopter.

STAT MedEvac is proud to partner with Airbus on this exciting next chapter. We are constantly focused on how to better deliver life-changing medicine. Like the launch of the EC135, this project is an opportunity for STAT MedEvac to be at the forefront of our industry and to find new and improved ways to positively impact the patients and communities we serve,” says CEO Jim Houser. “We are proud to be an organisation that embraces new challenges aimed at enhancing the way we serve our patients and communities.”

STAT MedEvac has been a long-standing partner of Airbus, and we are honoured to continue working with it as it takes the major step of incorporating the H140 into its fleet,” adds Bart Reijnen, president of Airbus Helicopters in the US and head of the North America region. “On behalf of the entire Airbus team, we look forward to watching STAT MedEvac’s H140s take to the skies, performing life-saving missions across the northeastern US.”

The H140 is a three-tonne class rotorcraft; entry into service is planned in 2028 for the EMS segment. It features a wide range of innovations, including a T-shaped tail boom with an optimised Fenestron that reduces sound levels; a five-blade bearingless main rotor; and new powerful Safran engines. The helicopter also features a larger cabin space, large windows and optimised cabin layout that can accommodate up to six passengers comfortably. Designed with accessibility in mind, thanks to the large clamshell doors and the high tail boom, the rear loading capabilities allow the use of different types of stretcher systems, including intensive care ones and transport incubators, while its large sliding doors facilitate access to the cabin.
