Maafaru International Airport (MIA) in the Maldives ended 2024 with significant aircraft movements, despite being temporarily closed from June to September for a runway expansion. December saw 98 private jet movements, underscoring the airport’s role in luxury tourism.
The airport’s runway was extended to 2,850m ahead of the peak season, enhancing its capacity to accommodate luxury tourism demand. MIA's strategic location continues to be a key part of the Maldives' tourism and economic strategies.
