California-based vertiport development and operations company Skyway Technologies has formed a strategic partnership with the Monterey Bay Drones, Automation and Robotics Technology (DART) Initiative to accelerate advanced air mobility (AAM) adoption throughout the state. The partnership builds on DART’s 2024 AAM Readiness Assessment and Skyway’s expertise in feasibility and operational modelling to develop a vision for regional air mobility operations.
The first phase of the project will focus on a vertiport network feasibility analysis, informing ongoing transportation and economic development planning. The initiative aims to strengthen industry growth, create high-wage jobs and improve mobility and disaster response capabilities.
Skyway CEO Clifford Cruz says: “DART's expertise in catalysing regional workforce development and infrastructure solutions, combined with Skyway's innovative approach to vertiport operations, will create a blueprint for cities and regions across California. Together, we're not just imagining the future; we're building it.”
Skyway and DART are working with government agencies, private developers and academic institutions to ensure broad stakeholder input in shaping AAM expansion. Skyway will also present updates on the partnership at the LIFT Summit in March 2025.
DART executive director Josh Metz says: “The Summit provides an opportunity to showcase how partnerships like ours are turning bold visions into actionable plans. We're proud to be working with Skyway to lead the charge in accessible and innovative transportation.”
