Avilution gains FAA approval for ADC upgrade in Eclipse 500
An XFS software integration will address the company's fleet challenges, delivering improved reliability and cost-efficient operation.

Avilution, an avionics software company headquartered at the Huntsville International Airport, has completed the first flight of an FAA-approved air data computer (ADC) modification for the Eclipse 500 jet. This achievement demonstrates the successful integration of Avilution's eXtensible Flight System (XFS) software with Resurgent Aviation Solutions' ADC hardware replacement, addressing key challenges such as high failure rates and limited component availability.

The upgrade modernises the Eclipse 500 while maintaining the original cockpit interface, eliminating the need for additional pilot training or procedural changes. “This integration is completely invisible to the flight crew,” says Mark Spencer, founder of Avilution.

The project, supported by Huntsville-based Skytron Avionics for hardware integration, ensures the Eclipse 500 fleet remains operational for years to come. Resurgent Aviation Solutions CEO Cary Winter says, “Developing the software and hardware with Avilution and Skytron Avionics was a great experience and a great example of teamwork. Both companies delivered exactly as promised, and together we brought this long-sought-after project to fruition.”

This FAA approval is the first use of Avilution's XFS software and lays the foundation for more cost-efficient and safer aircraft upgrades, benefiting government, civil, and military aviation sectors.

"We are glad that Avilution has been successful in receiving FAA approval for its aviation software and that Huntsville International Airport has been able to provide facilities that support the development of this important product," says Butch Roberts, CEO of Huntsville International Airport. "We look forward to its continued growth and achievements."
