US MRO specialist West Star Aviation has promoted Lee Smieja to Gulfstream programme manager at its Lovell Field facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Smieja has more than 22 years of aviation experience, graduating from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Business Management and an airframe/powerplant licence. He was previously employed with Gulfstream in Appleton, Wisconsin, prior to joining West Star as a project manager. His responsibilities will include being involved in maintaining effective cost controls for budgets, monitoring manpower, managing schedules and implementing any new procedures for the growing Gulfstream programme.
