MT-Propeller celebrates opening of three production buildings
All metal propeller parts can now be manufactured at HQ. The hangars also provide additional space for the direct installation of propellers on customer aircraft and increase sales, spare parts and shipping capacity.
The new hangars, the three huge buildings in the middle of the picture, will support an increase in production and service capacities.

After a construction period of about two years, MT-Propeller has now opened three new buildings with a total of about 8,000sqm (86,000sq ft), in order to further increase its production and service capacities due to the continuous growth in orders and new developments.

With the newly built production facilities, all metal parts for MT-Propellers can now be manufactured at its headquarters, providing short transport distances and greater flexibility. A new aircraft hangar also provides additional space for the direct installation of propellers on customer aircraft, and the new buildings also increase sales, spare parts and shipping capacity. Additional areas have also been created for staff training.

In total, the company now operates six buildings with a total of 15,000sqm (161,000sq ft) at Straubing airport, in addition to its composite blade production facility six kilometres (four miles) from the airport with a further 5,000sqm (54,000sq ft).

When Gerd Mühlbauer started MT-Propeller in 1981 with five employees, the company was located in one small airport building, which is still part of the company's complex today. Over the last 43 years, the company has grown steadily from a small business to a world leader in high performance aircraft propellers with 280 employees worldwide, headquarters in Germany and additional sites in Czech Republic and the US.

The key to success is its being owned and operated by aviators for aviators, and this comes with a continuous investment in innovative developments by its engineers, most of whom are pilots themselves, the company's own test pilots, many long-experienced employees who use and pass on their experience and knowledge in the development and construction of the ‘Propellers Made in Germany’, continuous training of all employees and the highest quality standards.

MT-Propeller serves the general aviation market with over 220 propeller STCs for aircraft models ranging from motor gliders to regional airliners. The product range extends from two to seven blade propellers for aircraft up to 5,000hp to airships, hovercraft and wind tunnels.

Over 33,000 MT propeller systems with over 115,000 natural composite blades are in service. To date, MT Propellers have accumulated over 180 million flight hours.

The opening celebration ended with an impressive fireworks display by PyroArtists from Hünxe in Germany.
