Johnson bringing three decades of experience to commission
Bryan Johnson has held leadership positions at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan airport, Quad City International airport, Lincoln airport and Kearney Regional airport. His most recent role was at MidAmerica St. Louis.
Johnson is an Accredited Airport Executive and a licensed commercial/instrument pilot.

Bryan Johnson will soon become the next executive director of the Johnson County Airport Commission. Johnson comes to the operator Kansas' New Century AirCenter and Johnson County Executive airports with nearly 30 years of experience in the aviation and aerospace industry along with business development expertise.

Since March 2020, Johnson has served as the airport director for MidAmerica St. Louis airport. His experience there includes providing overall direction and leadership for airport staff and other airport personnel, collaboration with federal, state and local elected officials and agencies, managing property development and tenant recruitment, as well as providing oversight of the annual budget, public relations and community affairs. Significant achievements in this role include negotiation of the airport's land lease agreement with Boeing (a $200 million investment) and a $34 million terminal expansion project.

He has served in leadership positions at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan airport, Quad City International airport, Lincoln airport and Kearney Regional airport. His career experience also includes working as an airport operations agent, airport analyst and senior consultant for Aviation Management Consulting Group.

“We were very impressed with Bryan's variety of experiences within the aviation industry,” says county manager Penny Postoak Ferguson. “His skillset, including airport management, business development, oversight of staff and operations and negotiating property lease agreements, aligned very well with the needs of this position.”

Johnson is an Accredited Airport Executive and a licensed commercial/instrument pilot with a first-class medical certificate. He received an aviation management degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver and his Master of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He belongs to several aviation and aircraft professional organisations. He states: “I am thrilled to join a high-performance organisation and look forward to future growth and new development opportunities for both New Century and Executive airports.”
