Alpine expands digital instrument STC to Bell 205
Alpine Aerotech's digital flight instrument STC has already been approved for the Bell 212, and it has extended this to include the Bell 205. The kit is designed to replace standard analogue instruments.
The kit replaces analogue instruments.

Alpine Aerotech has re-issued its digital flight instrument STC to include the Bell 205 for day/night visual flight rules operations. The kit has been previously approved for installation on Bell 212 aircraft in Canada, the United States and Europe.

The digital flight instrument kit is designed to replace standard analogue instruments which it says tend to be more expensive to repair and sometimes unreliable. The installer can also remove tarsyn/rate gyros, flux valves, remote compensators, compass controls and all associated wiring. It also includes all installation provisions, which creates a near plug-and-play solution that requires only minor modifications for a GPS antenna installation. The altitude indicator has an internal backup battery that provides approximately an hour of service in the event of a complete power failure.

“We've been providing this digital instrument kit to Bell 212 operators for approximately three years with great feedback,” says Taylor Wilson, manager of manufacturing. “We regularly get asked about availability for other Bell models, and we agreed the 205 is an excellent addition to our product line.”
