Egyptian operator Alkan Air says that 2021 has been a roller coaster filled with NOTAMS and regulation changes that often took place overnight. “We were expecting the worst but it has turned out for the better,” says marketing executive Tarek Osman. “Currently we have one King Air 350 and one Hawker 850XP, and we are expecting to add a Challenger 650 by the end of this year and another aircraft as well. Our King Air 350 is more in demand domestically due to its competitive price for tourists and local clients travelling within the country.”

Osman goes on to say that wise leadership from top management, along with a resilient team completing flexible hours were the key factors that got Alkan through the crisis. “We now want to expand to European territories and hopefully grow our fleet as well. And we are looking to grow our maintenance accounts as we have very capable certified engineers who can carry out maintenance on various kinds of private jets. We will also be starting some marketing activities with organisations outside of aviation.”
