Sun turns up the heat on carbon offset sustainability
One hundred per cent of Terrapass carbon offsets are verified against broadly accepted standards by independent third party verifiers. It is the latest scheme to be added to Sun Air Jets' sustainability arsenal.

Camarillo, California-headquartered Part 135 Sun Air Jets, which provides FBO services, aircraft management, maintenance and private charter jet services, is furthering its sustainability initiatives by announcing its partnership with Terrapass, a carbon offsetting company. This partnership further solidifies the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

Working with a leading carbon offsetting company allows Sun Air to reduce its carbon footprint and compensate for 100 per cent of the carbon emissions released by its charter aircraft. Terrapass uses the proceeds from the investments to fund projects that are dedicated to reducing harm to the environment. This includes funding endeavours such as promoting wind energy, landfill methane flaring, methane digestion and other clean energy means. The credit gained by carbon offsetting ensures that any emissions are balanced with sustainable solutions elsewhere.

One hundred per cent of Terrapass carbon offsets are verified against broadly accepted standards by independent third party verifiers. Their primary standards are the Verified Carbon Standard, Gold Standard, American Carbon Registry and the Climate Action Reserve. These standards ensure that Sun Air receives the highest quality offsets available.

Sun Air Jets is committed to being a considerate and environmentally friendly operator. In addition to its carbon offset programme, it has also implemented sustainable aviation fuel, solar panels and other green FBO standards. It has been offering SAF since the beginning of 2021 and installed solar panel on its Van Nuys hangar complex.
