VoltAero to unveil Cassio 1 at France Air Expo
VoltAero has already logged more than 40 hours during 70-plus flights with the Cassio 1 hybrid-electric demonstrator as it validates its hybrid-electric technology. Lyon will be the location of the big reveal.
The Cassio 1 will be flown to Lyon from VoltAero's headquarters at Royan-Médis airport in southwestern France.

The initial public presentation of VoltAero's Cassio 1 hybrid-electric demonstrator is planned to take place at France Air Expo in Lyon. The flight-proven aircraft will be presented on static display at the three-day European general aviation event.

“France Air Expo is a natural choice for Cassio 1's initial air show appearance,” says Jean Botti, VoltAero's CEO and chief technology officer. “We've already logged more than 40 hours during 70-plus flights with the demonstrator as we validate our hybrid-electric technology, and the time is right to enable the general aviation sector to see it first-hand at a major gathering.”

In addition to the presence of the Cassio 1, which will be flown to Lyon from VoltAero's headquarters at Royan-Médis airport in southwestern France, the company will also be unveiling the first scale model of its series-production Cassio 2 version.

“We are particularly proud to welcome Cassio 1 as a world premiere at the 2021 edition of France Air Expo,” states Didier Mary, the show's organiser. “As a French company, VoltAero is once again demonstrating that our industry is ready to meet the challenges for aviation of the future.”

Taking place from 17-19 June at Lyon-Bron airport, France Air Expo is one of the first large-scale aviation gatherings to be organised since the COVID-19 pandemic's onset.
