Smith comes to Chattanooga with vast experience
West Star's latest recruit Michael Smith has held positions at Boeing and Embraer, and holds an A&P licence along with an IA from the FAA. He was awarded AMT's 40 under 40 Maintenance Professional Award for 2020.

West Star Aviation has named Michael Smith as the new Embraer team lead at its Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport/Lovell Field facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, one of its four full-service locations.

Smith has vast experience in the aviation industry as well as Embraer-specific experience, having previously held positions at Boeing and Embraer respectively. He holds an A&P licence along with an IA from the FAA, and was recently awarded AMT's 40 under 40 Maintenance Professional Award for 2020. With his new role at West Star he will be responsible for line maintenance, inspections and the logistics for non-routine maintenance services of paint, interior and avionics.

“Michael's in-depth knowledge of all the Embraer models will bring added value to the West Star team while continuing to exceed our customers' expectations with our expert services,” says Michael Forehand, Embraer programme manager.
