Gemstone Aviation, based at Gamston airport in Retford, UK, has registered a Diamond Aircraft DA62. The aircraft was intended to be a demonstrator, as Gemstone is a Diamond distributor for the UK and Ireland. The aircraft has now been sold and delivered to its new owner.
Director Henrik Burkal says that he is expecting another DA62 in May: “We basically operate the aircraft for sales demonstrations, air shows and for our own travel requirements,” he tells Business Air News. “But being the main Diamond distributor means that the primary objective is to promote and sell Diamond Aircraft. So we do not tend to have our demonstrators for very long.
“Our experience with the DA62 is that it is a very useful light twin because of its (up to) seven seats, useful load capability, modern technology avionics and extremely low operating costs. In addition it is very roomy, safe and offers good speed and field performance.”
