African operator Bestfly recently called on ExecuJet Africa to install Rockwell Collins Stage technology and Ka-band connectivity on one of its Global aircraft. Inmarsat's Ka-band Jet ConneX service was integrated as part of the package.

“We are very proud to be the first operator in Africa to have this state-of-the-art and revolutionary technology available for our customers,” says Bestfly CEO Nuno Pereira. “It extends our long lasting and fruitful relationship with ExecuJet South Africa and Rockwell Collins, and above all demonstrates our vision of being ahead of the curve. We seek to go above and beyond to change the mindset and perception of the business aviation industry on our continent.” ExecuJet Africa maintenance director Vince Goncalves comments: “We are proud to offer our customers a bundled solution through Rockwell Collins on the Stage/JX services and be the first company to install it in the region.

“We have worked with Rockwell Collins on a number of installations over the years, and this one is about to reach another successful conclusion.” The upgraded service will enable wireless streaming of content to smartphones, tablets and laptops. Stage features a library of more than 1,100 rights-protected movies and TV shows, half of which are available in high definition. The technology can also provide real-time updates including business news, weather, sports feeds, destination and event information in a variety of languages.

Rockwell Collins director of business development for EMEA JP Rivet adds: “The business aviation market in Africa has really grown in recent years, which makes this first installation so exciting for our team. We look forward to helping more passengers enjoy the same entertainment options in the air as they do on the ground.”
