ExecuJet Africa welcomed children from local community schools to an event held on Mandela Day in July, a day of commemoration of politician and philanthropist Nelson Mandela.

Seven basketball players from NBA Africa and members of South African rugby players organisation MyPlayers, including Springbok prop Julian Redelinghuys and Lions centre Howard Mnisi, coached the children through a day of activities at ExecuJet's facility at Lanseria International airport.

Staff at sports brand Puma's Johannesburg branch packed 100 meals to distribute to the children.

ExecuJet is looking to inspire change and take action in local communities by embracing Nelson Mandela's belief that sport has the power to change to world. Aviation director and accountable manager Gavin Kiggen says: β€œAt ExecuJet we pride ourselves on being good corporate citizens wherever we are based around the globe. By hosting this event, we aim to inspire these children to pursue their sporting goals and fulfil their potential.”

This event accompanied donations by ExecuJet to improve the facilities of Johannesburg's community schools with a funded fire awareness programme for 23 classrooms in association with Akunamlilo Fire Fighters.
